The call about a potential methane gas leak came into dispatch at 9:17 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2.
Emergency crews quickly responded to the plant located at 1701 Blackbridge Road, Manchester Township.
One building has been evacuated and Columbia Gas has been contacted, officials said.
No injuries or hospitalizations were reported.
"The Hazmat team, along with York Area United Fire & Rescue, determined that malfunctioning gaskets had caused the leak," York County Office of Emergency Managemen's Ted Czech told Daily Voice. "The Hazmat team ventilated the building with fans to get the gas levels down to a non-explosive range and cleared at 1:15 p.m."
The plant's owner, PA American Water is working to repair the leaky gaskets.
There is no danger to the public, authorities explained.
